Some disorganised Skyward Sword thoughts
I really liked it! Specifics -
The art style used was fantastic. Twilight Princess was drab and didn’t have that sense of wonder and exploration and excitement at the new environments and locations. Skyward Sword, like Wind Waker, had that coming out of its ears. Yes! Every environment was gorgeous and atmospheric and yaayyy. This was also possibly the cutest Link yet. The designs of the main characters were a lot more memorable and had more personality than Twilight Princess, too (Other than Midna, nobody really stood out there.) So most of the things I liked about Wind Waker reappeared here!

Fig 1: Cutest Link yet
The dungeons were fun and engaging, the boss fights were great. There were no sections that felt like they dragged. I was never frustrated or bored.
I kind of miss having more of an overworld to explore, like in Wind Waker. But the Skyward Sword way of doing it was also a massive timesaver. So, not really a complaint.
I liked the motion controls a lot! They took a little bit of practice but once I got the hang of them, woo! Swordfighting! They also worked perfectly for stuff like the bow, which has always been the worst for me, since I can’t aim for crap with a control stick for whatever reason.
I was so excited during the climax of the game I was playing like an idiot and literally had to take a break to calm myself down. Yeah.
I basically never upgraded anything except my shield, once. I guess that stuff was in there to appeal to RPG fans? I don’t know, I feel like customisation isn’t the kind of thing that really adds anything to Zelda.
Story was all good, Link was very expressive and perfect during ~poignant moments~. (Come here Link, let me hug you, everything is ok!) Still not sure where this fourth Goddess came from, but I’ll go with it. Fi was a good sidekick despite her occasional nagging, and Groose and Impa were well drawn side characters too. And giving Link and Zelda and actual relationship prior to the game made it feel more important that you save her!
Also I really liked collecting the Tadtones in the gorgeous flooded forest, I get the impression that people found that tedious? WHATEVER TREVOR
In summary: ZELDA DONE RIGHT, A+
